Where does the food enter the body?
The mouth.
What happens in the mouth?
The salivary glands start working.
Where does the food go after the mouth?
The oesophagus.
What do the salivary glands do?
Produce a digestive juice which is added to into the mouth.
Where does the food go after the oesophagus?
The liver.
What does the liver do?
It produces bile, which helps with digestion.
Where does the food go after the liver?
The stomach.
What happens in the stomach?
Acids are added and this is where digestion happens.
Where does the food go after the stomach?
Small Intestine.
What happens in the small intestine?
Digestion is completed, and absorption of soluble food occurs.
What happens in the pancreas?
A digestive juice is produced and is added into the small intestine.
Where does the food go after the small intestine?
Large Intestine.
What happens in the large intestine?
Water is absorbed from the undigested food, which then produces faeces.
What are faeces?
Human Waste.
Where does the food go after the large intestine?
The food exits the body out of the anus through the rectum.
