Absorption of water; egestion of undigested food

used to break down food in the gut into small, soluble molecules that can be absorbed through the gut wall.

villi
What is the purpose of villi
Provide a larger surface area for food absorption
What is a microvilli
projections that cover each villus.
What are inside the villus?
Blood capillaries
