Storage of energy, insulation - protects organs, aid absorption of fat soluble vitamins.

Removal of waste, regulates bowel function.

Supplies energy to the cells.
What is mechanical digestion?
Large pieces of food are ingested and physically broken down into smaller pieces.
What is chemical digestion?
Larger molecules of food are broken down by enzymes, acid and bile.
What is an autotroph?
An organism that produces their food from light, oxygen, CO2 or other chemicals.
What is a heterotroph?
An organism that obtains their nutrients from plants or animal tissue.
