What happened when the Romans left Britain?
All the experts who maintained the public health system left
soon there was no working public health
None of the locals could read Latin so most of the medical knowledge was lost
Anarchy ensued- many wars between tribes & invaders

Romeos empire was collapsing and they were running out of money

Why was it like this?
Life expectancy was low & infant mortality was high
Because of: poor medical knowledge, poor housing conditions, poor diet, hard work, lots of fighting, the plague
Why is this period if time called the dark ages?
Not much is known as about the time as little was recorded
Lots of violence
How was new medical knowledge formed n the dark ages?
New remedies were learnt through observation, old wives tales, remembering what the Romans had done
What were the implications of minor wounds
Minor wounds that would’ve been treatable in roman times were deadly
What sort of medicine was used in the dark ages?
