Cominform organised all the communist parties in Europe and arranged their leadership so they would do what Moscow told them to.
Basically: com”inform” - informed all satellite states about what they have to do and was a way of controlling the states.

It was the Soviet Unions alternative to the Marshall plan and it built up trade links between countries under Soviet control
