Alloy and Abramson -asked those with and without depression how much control they had over a flashing light and found those with depression estimated more accurately than those without depression
What is one treatment to depression
CBT which works in 4 steps
1-identity the irrational negative beliefs
2-challenge these beliefs
3-test their hypothesis by setting the patient hw
4-evaluate the evidence together in the next session

Cuijpers- reviewed all reports across the uk and compared those receiving cbt to those receiving no treatment and found those with cbt improved greatly compared to the control group.
Limitations t cbt
Individual difference as this treatment may not work for everyone’s experience of depression
