The CNS> Spinal And Brain Flashcards

1
Q

Consisting of spinal cord and brain.
CNS protected by bone= skull and vertebrae.
Meninges = layers of protective memberanes
Cerebrospinal fluid= csf
ventricles= brain cavities that store csf

A

Dorsal root of spinal nerve = sensory fibers entering gray matter
Ventral root of spinal nerve = motor fibers leaving gray matter.

Q

Function of spinal cord

A
  1. Communication between brain and PNS
  2. Center for reflex arcs, nerves and muscles can respond very quickly to protentialy dangerous stimuli.
The spinal cord sends sensory information to the brain, receives motor output from the brain, and carries out reflex actions.

Q

The brain can be divided into several functional and anatomical regions by longituditudivd tissue. Connected by corpus callosum. Take a place in the cerebrum= largest portion of human brain
Made of left and right hemisphere has four lobes

A

Four major areas of the brain:
1. Cerebrum. المخ head
2. Diencephalon الدماغ البني inside the brain( thalamus =pineal gland/ melatonin sleep and wake cycle. Hypothalamus that control the pituitary gland./ link nervous with endocrine)
3. Cerebellum in the back.( assures smooth, voluntary muscular , receives sensory input the joints and muscles.
Receives motor output from the cerebral cortex)
4. Brain stem( midbrain moves info. Between cerebellum and cerebrum.
Pons, moves info between Cerebellum and rest of CNS.
Medulla oblongates, regulates heartbeat, blood pressure.
Contains reflex centers for swallowing.

Q

The cerebral cortex is a thin layer of gray matter covering the cerebrum. Each cerebral hemisphere has four lobes

A

1- a frontal lobes( the primary motor area, personality)
2- parietal lobes( somatosensory area وسط المخ)
3- occipital lobes ( auditory area)
4- temporal lobes( visual area all the way in back of the brain)
