Duty to represent clients
A lawyer does NOT have a duty to represent a client.
EXCEPT: 1) Court appointments 2) Sufficient causes like not being paid or a violation of the ROPC
Attorney client relationship
This happens the moment when you meet with a potential client and then you are bound to keep the relationship confidential even if they choose to not hire you.
Prevention of the Attorney Client relationship
Just tell them NO. Make sure you explain to them that you are NOT in an attorney client relationship.
Criminal prosecution
Only the client can inform the attorney if they want to:
1) testify
2) exercise a right by jury
3) plea bargin

Must maintain an ordinary relationship. Must seek appointment of a guardian if necessary. Permitted to reveal information as necessary to protect the client.
Discharge of an attorney
A client has an absolute right to fire an attorney. BUT the client will still owe any fees due.
