The circulatory system Flashcards
Learn the diagram of the heart!!!!!
WITH LABELS!!!!!!!!
Arteries carry the blood…
AWAY from the heart.
Do arteries carry oxygenated or deoxygenated blood? Are there any exceptions?
It is always oxygenated except in the pulmonary artery.
Do veins carry oxygenated or deoxygenated blood? Are there any exceptions?
It is always deoxygenated except in the pulmonary vein.
What type of circulatory system is the human one?
A double circulation system.
What are the two circuits called? Extention
The pulmonary circuit
The systemic circuit
Learn the diagram showing double circulation!!!!!
DON’T FORGET!!!!!
Which blood vessels have valves?
Veins have valves to stop the backflow of blood, but arteries and capillaries don’t.
How much space is in each blood vessel type?
Arteries - small space inside
Veins - large space inside
Capillaries - tiny vessels in close contact to cells.
What is the pressure in each of the types of blood vessels?
Arteries - high
Veins - low
Capillaries - low and slow speed to allow substance exchange.
What is blood made of?
Plasma, red and white blood cells and platelets.
