The Circulatory system Flashcards
Red blood cells
Made in blood marrow
Carries oxygen around the body
No nucleus
White blood cells
Fixes minor injuries e.g cuts Bruses
Function of blood
Transport
Defends against disease
Clotting
Transport in blood
Oxygen and carbon dioxide
Three types in blood vessels
Arteries
Capillaries
Veins
Arteries
Carry blood from heat
Capillaries
Connect actuaries and vines together
Cardiac muscles
Doesn’t fatigue or tire
Normal blood temperature
37*C
Heart disease is provented by
Exercise
Eating well
Not smoking
Resting pulse rate
25beats per minute
Left ventrical has a thicker wall because
It has to pump blood all around the body whereas the right ventrical only has to pump to the lungs.
Exercise is good because
Strengthens our lungs
Strengthens our heart
Strengthens our muscles
Reduces weight
The effect of exercise on the heart rate
When exercising our heart rate increases. The heart becomes stronger. Resting rate of those who exercise regularly is slower as the heart doesn’t need to work so hard.
Circulatory system
The flow of blood around the body
