The Cell Cycle Flashcards
Prophase
The centrioles move to opposite sides of the cell and between them form mitotic spindles. The nuclear membrane around the nucleus starts to dissolve and freezes up the chromosomes
Metaphase
The chromosomes align themselves horizontally across the center and form the metaphase plate
Anaphase
The chromosomes separate and half go up to the top of the cell and the other goes down the bottom (Shortest phase of mitosis)
Telophase
The center of the cell begins to pinch in forming the cleavage furrow. Mitotic spindles dissolve and the nuclear membrane starts to reform around the nuclei.
Mitosis
From one parent cell we end up getting two identical daughter cells
Interphase
Growing and maturing of the cell
