What is the atmosphere?
a seal surrounding the earth; divider between earth and space
What is the biosphere?
Water and atmosphere that supports life
What is the geosphere or lithosphere?
the solid portion of the earth; the earth’s crust(rock, soil, minerals)
What is the hydrosphere?
includes all water(solid, liquid and gas)
What is carbon dioxide
CO2, present in the atmosphere and formed during respiration
What is cellular respiration?
Process where animals and plants release CO₂ into the atmosphere by converting oxygen and glucose into CO₂ and water
What is photosynthesis?
a process when a plant uses carbon dioxide, water, and inorganic salts to convert into carbohydrates
What is decomposition?
The breaking down of dead organic matter
What is sedimentation?
Decaying matter and soil particles begin to form layers, eventually becoming rock
