Q

Carbon Fixation:

A
  • CO2 is fixed to RuBP by the Ribisco enzyme and this makes it rlly unstable and it breaks into two 3-Phosphogylcerates
  • this happens to 3 molecules of RuBP

Q

Reduction:

A

ATP slans a phosphate group onto the 3-phosphoglycerwate and then NADPH gives it some elctrons => end up with two molecules of G3P a simple sugar

Regeneration:

A

each G3P has 3 carbons and there’s 2 of themand you need 6 carbons for glucose but you also need 5 carbons to make RuBP
luckily this process happens 6 times so you end up with 36 carbons in the form of G3P, and 1 G3P is used to make glucose (but it can’t yet until another joins it next cycle), and the remaining 30 carbons go back into making 6 new RuBP so the process sustains
