The Brain Flashcards
Cerebrum
The largest part of the brain holds the capacity for learning, memory, perception, and intellectual functioning.
True or False; The cerebellum is split into two hemispheres.
False.
How do the two cerebral hemispheres communicate?
They communicate through axons called the corpus callosum.
True or False; The Left part of your brain controls the Right part of your brain.
True.
Where do most sensory and motor processing occur?
In the Cerebral Cortex.
Where is the cerebellum located?
At the posterior base of the brain.
What does the cerebellum do?
Helps maintain/regulate balance, posture, and movement.
True or False; The cerebellum works with the spinal cord and cerebrum.
True.
Where is the brainstem located?
At the base of the brain. (Also leads down to the spinal cord, connecting the cerebral hemispheres with the cerebellum.)
What is in the lower brainstem?
pons, medulla, and midbrain.
What do the pons, medulla, and midbrain do?
Helps maintain homeostasis by regulating vital functions that keep you alive. (Heart rate, Breathing rate, Body temperature, and sleep)
