1st Amendment
Guarantees freedom of religion, speech, assembly, press, and the right to petition the government for the redress of grievances
2nd Amendment
Guarantees the right to keep and bear arms
3rd Amendment
Says you don’t have to house soldiers in your home during times of peace
4th Amendment
Protects citizens against unreasonable searches and seizures
5th Amendment
Protects due process rights, no double jeopardy, and no self-incrimination
6th Amendment
Guarantees the right to a speedy and public trial by jury, and the right to an attorney
7th Amendment
Guarantees the right to a jury trial in civil cases when you are being sued over $20
8th Amendment
Protects against cruel and unusual punishments
9th Amendment
Says you have other rights not mentioned in the first 8 amendments
10th Amendment
All powers not given to the federal government are reserved to the states
13th Amendment
Outlawed slavery in the United States
14th Amendment
Says all people born in the United States are citizens, and all have equal protection under the law
15th Amendment
Gave all men the right to vote
16th Amendment
Gave the U.S Congress power to lay and collect income taxes
17th Amendment
Established direct election of U.S. Senators by popular vote
