Why was the Berlin Wall built?
It was mainly built to prevent western spies from entering Soviet territory however in reality it was to stop the educated people who were leaving East Berlin. It had also prevented East Berliners from seeing what life was like in West Berlin
What did they do to make the Berlin Wall?
Barbed wire fences were put up and trains were stopped from crossing the border. There were fences zigzagged through the middle of the city dividing the streets and buildings and in the upcoming week the fence was replaced by a concrete wall
What was Khrushchev’s opinions on Kennedy in the Vienna Summit?
In the Vienna Summit Khrushchev didn’t really take Kennedy seriously and viewed him as inexperienced and weak

Kennedy became US president in January 1961

He wasn’t impressed however he was practical because is West Berlin remained free east Berlin wasn’t involved in war

On the 13th of August 1961 the borders were closed. Moscow and the east German government claimed this was to stop western spies but in reality it was to halt the flow of refugees fleeing to the west
What did the Berlin Wall prove?
The wall proved that tension was still high however it did settle the matter of Berlin (for the time being)
