Summary of the Berlin Wall
On August 20th, 1961 the East of Berlin(USSR) was sealed off from the west of Berlin(America,Britain and France) using the Berlin Wall. It was built to prevent East Germans from fleeing to the west of Germany. 100’s tried to escape east Berlin because it was strict and communist.
The checkpoints
There were many checkpoints, the main checkpoints was called checkpoint Charlie. A checkpoint is where people could travel from the East of Berlin to the west of Berlin but people from the west of Berlin couldn’t travel to the East.
