the axilla name these joints Flashcards
what joint is the arrow pointing to?
sternoclavicular joint. it connects the clavicle bone to the sternum.
use the location of the red arrow in proximity to the two bones and tell me the name of the joint at the red arrow
the glenohumeral joint. the joint between the glenoid fassa and the head of the humerous
what is the location of the axillary vein in comprison to the axillary sheath? what is found in the axillary sheath?
axillary vein is actually outside the sheath. the axillary sheath has the axillary artery, and the three nerves.
there is the medial pec nerve and the lateral pec nerve. how do you tell the difference?
use the pec minor as your point of reference. the medial pec nerve will go directy through the pec minor. lateral pec nerve will miss over the top of the pec minor before hitting the pec major.
the axillary artery has many brnaches and several names. what is your reference point?
use the pec minor again. and it splits it into 3 parts
- you have the superior thoracic which is superior to the thorax
- you have the thoracoacromial - slants medial
lateral acromial- slands laterally
- you have the subscapular A which is the main one that appears right after it passes the scapular.
then 2 that wrap around the humerous (thus circumflex humoral). one goes anterior the other goes posterior
how would you tell an injury to the root from an injury to the terminal nerves
terminal nerves injury- 1. direct muscle paralysis
- no dermatome injury
root injury- 1. muscle weakness not paralysis
- sensory deficit in associated dermatome
