- use end of swab stick to make divet to identify vein. Use butterfly needle
Test: x2 blood culture (2 bottles per arm)
Adults: 8-10ml
Children: 1-3ml
Newborns: 1ml
Collection method:
Aerobic is 1st
Anaerobic is 2nd

Additive: sodium citrate (anticoagulant)
Yields: plasma
Sent to: coagulation
Common tests: PT/INR, PTT, aPTT, D-Dimer (plasma)
- 9:1 ratio
-must be filled completely
-Inverted 3 to 4 times

Additive: glass- none, plastic- clot activator
