Inspired radicals in Britain that change was possible. It also showed reform could be achieved by mounting power, in some this stimulated enthusiasm in reform.

A
The bloodshed of the Terror from 1973 on wards - guillotining the aristocracy and the king/queen allowed those opposed to reform to portray change as dangerous.
