- People in GB were not adequately represented in parliament
- Opposition to violence and anarchy

- Total membership went over 3000 in 1795
- Societies had weekly meetings and printed pamphlets
- 1793, 6000 members of the public signed a petition to say they supported the LCS

A
Propertied classes formed loyalist associations they used anti - radical propaganda to counter the threat of the LCS by focusing on anti - French sentiment
