A British commander heard there was weapons and ammunition in Concord in Boston. There was then clashes between the British in Lexington Green and Concord. These were the first shots of the Revolution

The 13 colonies appointed George Washington as the commander of the American army. They also passed the Declaration of Independence on 4th July 1776 this marked there final break with Britain
