What was the Allied Control Council (ACC)?
-had been set up to administer the zones (divided into quarters
What was the ACC in control of/responsible for?
-responsible for the looking after Germany
-decide what to do about Germany
-4 countries/representatives to monitor their zone (America, England, USSR and France)
What were decisions in the ACC supposed to be?
-decisions were supposed to be unanimous
What happened when decisions in the ACC couldn’t be decided unanimous?
-when this could not be achieved each military governor could implement their own decisions
What impact would ACC have on the running of the four zones?
-each zone could be run according to the political and economic principles of the country in charge
-each zone could become isolated with different ideologies and beliefs etc
-each zones had different strengths and weaknesses
-cooperation would be difficult as USSR was communist and the other western powers capitalist
-could cause conflict due to different beliefs
-wouldn’t be able to establish animosity->could cause conflict
