Russo-Japanese war

A

Caused when Japan launched a surprise attack on Russian ships because the Russians refused to stay out of Korea (Japan wanted Korea as its own territory. Japan drove Russian troops out of Korea and captured most of Russia’s pacific fleet. Resulted in Russia and Japan making peace negotiations. (Treaty of Portsmouth) Declared that Japan had all captured territories and Russia must stay out of Korea and withdraw from Manchuria.
