What is the assertive statement?
5 step process
Open the discussion State the concern State the problem- real or perceived Offer a solution Obtain an agreement.
When is the two challenge rule invoked?
When an initial assertion is ignored.
RN responsibility to voice concern at least two times.
The member being challenged must acknowledge.
If outcome is not acceptable than take a stronger course of action, use chain of command.
When do you advocate for the patient?
When team members viewpoints dont coincide with the decision maker.
Assert a corrective action in a firm and respectful manner
