What is Internalisation?
When an individual genuinely accepts the norms and beliefs of a group, leading to both a public and private change in behaviour.
What is Compliance?
When an individual publicly goes along with the norms and beliefs of a group in order to fit in, but not privately. This is a superficial change in behaviour.
What is Identification?
When an individual partially accepts and agrees with the norms and beliefs of a group, as a result of them valuing something about that specific group (eg. that they’re popular) and wanting to be like them. This leads to a public but not necessarily private change in behaviour.
