this was when the tsar was unable to control large areas of russia

- economic problems. the government wanted to improve russia’s industries so they decided to squeeze the people hard and put all the money into industries. they made people run out of food and people began striking.

describe the Russo Japanese War
the Trans-Siberrean railway line expanded into Manchuria and Korea. This clashed with the Japan policy as they also wanted to benefit from the decaying chinese empire. Russia now wanted to pose as the protector of chineese from Japan aggression as they had financial benefits from it. At war, russias battle fleet was crushed by the japanese and russia was defeated within 1 hour.

they signed the treaty of Portsmouth and russia had to evacuate Manchuria and give up port arthur.
describe the bloody sunday
A peaceful demonstration led by Georgi Gapon with 200,000 people. there was a petition asking the tsar to reduce work hours etc. they marched to the winter palace and at that time the tsar wasnt in the palace. the cossacks fired at the crowd and there was screaming and shouting and many people and it became a massacre from a peaceful demonstration

the people were shamed and humiliated because japan was so small compared to russia.

why did the revolution fail?
it failed because when the war with japan ended, the troops came back to russia and they were used by the tsar to restore order because he felt powerful enough, he used them to get revenge on people who striked.
