1st Amendment:
Freedoms of Expression: The right to worship freely, the right to free speech, and the right to assemble and petition. Does not give citizens the right to block streets or protest violently
2nd Amendment:
The Right to Bear Arms: Citizens have the right to own a gun under most circumstances. Federal and State governments have the right to decide what guns are being sold, where they are carried, and who cannot own one.
3rd Amendment
Quartering Troops in Homes: “A man’s house shall be his own castle, privileged against all civil and military intrusion.”- Justice Joseph Story You have the right to defend as long as you are in fear of your safety.
4th Amendment:
Searches and Seizes: Citizens are protected from ¨unreasonable searches and seizes¨ to their property. Police need a warrant to search property unless they believe a crime was taking place.
5th Amendment:
Legal Rights and Protection: ¨Double Jeopardy¨ cannot be charged with the same crime twice. ¨Miranda rights¨Have the right to remain silent. The rights to refuse to answer questions that lead you to trouble. ¨Plead for the fifth¨
6th amendment:
Criminal Trial Rights: The right to a lawyer to your defense. The right to a ¨speedy and public trial by an impartial jury¨
