TGM Flashcards
Trainable Gun Mount
Provides a fixture to mount the guns in the AC.
2 different axes of movement are elevation/depression and azimuth.
TGM 6 sub-assemblies
Base/Pallet Adapter yoke Gun box Resolver Gyro Identical Position Indicators (H-model) Manual Readout Assemblies (U-model)
Base/Pallet Adapter
Base provides a platform on the U-model for mounting the guns to the AC floor.
The H-model utilizes pallet adapters which are 1 inch thick strips of steel secured to the floor of the AC
Yoke
Is a movable mount from the gun base to the gun box and provides for azimuth and elevation/depression movement of the gun.
Yoke - Tie Rods
Utilized on the 40mm and 105mm cannons to transmit recoil forces of the gun to the yoke
Gun Box
Secures the gun within the yoke and provides for elevation/depression movement utilizing the same shoulder bolts as the yoke
Gun Box - Adjustable Shock Absorbers (Snubbers)/Striker Plate
Will ease the gun back into battery during the last few inches of the 105mm counter-recoil
Resolver
2 resolvers are incorporated into each TGm and provide actual gun position.
Elevation resolver is mounted on the gun box trunnion. The azimuth resolver is mounted on the azimuth bearing of the TGM
Gyro
2 Gyros on each TGM, Elevation and azimuth. Sense rate of movement of the mount due to AC yaw, pitch and roll.
Elevation-Yoke
Azimuth-Gearing of the TGM
Idential Position Indicator (Starret Gause/H Model)
Used for manual verification of the gun position
Manual Readout Assemblies (MRA/ U Model)
Used for manual verification of the gun position
Tube Retraction System
Retractor piston positions the 105mm cannon in the recoiled position if the gun cannot be stowed either electrically or manually. On H-model is used for emergency situations.
