What is welfare state?
The range of programs and services available to Canadian citizens is commonly referred to as the welfare state.
The Welfare state is a system whereby the state undertakes to protect the health and well-being of its citizens, especially this in social and financial need.
What is the goal of the Canadian social welfare system?
To help people through difficult times until they can rebuild their lives.
Income Security
• What does it refer to?
o Refers to re-distribution of income or income supplementations
• Who is it for?
o It is for all Canadians; and just for people with low-income or people living in poverty
• Why is it created?
o To meet the needs of people who can not sufficiently provide for themselves
o To create greater socio-economic equity
o To create equal access to resources and opportunities
o For collective well-being
