Wilderness is not only the wilderness, not because people kill animals. The problem is interlopers, intruders. George is the first intruder we’re introduced to. It means a form of boundaries and transgression. Not everyone is allowed to cross this boundary.

A

“Like a barbarian” l152 → explicit link with the Roman triumph. But bringing someone in chains // slave or dangerous animals.
* George is a dangerous animal because : he is seen as a predator : with women or business dealing
* Prue is a prey.

George is a wild animal (vulpine smile), feral. These analogies play on the character ambivalence : both being wild, feral / unthreatening.
