Tests of Motor Development Flashcards
1
Q
School Function Assessment
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose
- Evaluates and monitor’s a student’s performance of functional tasks and activities
- Designed to identify a student’s strengths and limitations performing school related tasks
- Helps identify areas of intervention
- Monitor student’s progress over time
- Population
- K - 6th grade
- Norm or Criterion Referenced:
- Criterion Referenced
2
Q
Battelle:
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose:
- To assess development of infants and young children in 5 domains (adaptive, person/social, communication, motor, cognitive).
- Population:
- 0-7 yrs 11 mos
3
Q
Pediatric Evaluation of Disability
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose
- A comprehensive clinical assessment instrument that samples key functional capabilities and performance in children from the ages of 6 months to 7.5 years
- Description of functional status
- Evaluate functional abilities: skill, independence
- Population
- 6 months- 7.5 years old, unless they are severely delayed
4
Q
Dubowitz
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose
- This exam evaluates both physical and neurological characteristics (ie. appearance, skin texture, motor function and reflexes) to estimate a baby’s gestational age.
- This test is especially useful in situations when mothers deliver babies but have not received appropriate prenatal care. In these cases, it is difficult to determine if the baby is premature or full-term.
- Population
- Neonates
5
Q
Peabody Developmental Motor Inventory
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose
- An early childhood motor development program that provides evaluation and training or gross and fine motor skills
- Population
- 0-5 years
6
Q
Brazelton
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose
- Also known as the neonatal behavioral assessment, this test assesses behaviors across the neonatal period. It is used by clinicians as a way of sensitizing parents to the capacities of their newborn infants and as a way of identifying concerns about the baby. The goal of the NBAS is to identify individual differences in neonatal behavior which describes the current status of the infant’s autonomic and motor states, as well as their social attention systems as they interact with one another.
- Population
- Birth to 2 months
7
Q
Alberta Infant Motor Scale
- Purpose
- Population
A
- Purpose
- To measure the motor development for infants at risk for motor delay, focusing on obtain motor milestones and components necessary to obtain the milestone.
- The AIMS takes in consideration three criteria related to the quality of movement: weight distribution, posture, and movement against the force of gravity.
- Population
- Infant (age 0-18 mo.) or until the child is able to walk independently
