14
Q

16
Q

Urine Leucocytes

A

+ results correlates with pyuria, however pyuria does not necessarily indicate a UTI.

17
Q

Urine Blood

A

False negative possible if specific gravity is < 1007, significant haematuria is defined as ≥ 10 red blood cells.

18
Q

Normal Urine Protein

A

≤ 150mg/24 hours or 10mg/100mL
-in nephrotic syndrome >3.5g/day is excreted

19
Q

Abnormal Urine Protein

A

False Positive: Concentrated or alkaline urine (pH >7.5)
False Negative: Dilute urine or acidic urine (pH <5

20
Q

Normal Ketones

A

When glucose is present at the same time in the urine, diabetic ketoacidosis is the likely diagnosis. Not normally found in urine as usually completely metabolised.

21
Q

Abnormal Ketones

A

Starvation states, >=++
