Test Selection, Scoring, and Administration Flashcards
1
Q
What is Validity?
A
- Most important characteristic of testing
- The degree to which a test measures what it is supposed to measure
2
Q
What is Construct Validity?
A
- Ability of a test to present the underlying construct
- Refers to overall validity
3
Q
What is Face Validity?
A
- Test appears to measure what it is supposed to
4
Q
What is Content Validity?
A
- Test covers all relevant subtopics or component abilities
5
Q
What is Concurrent Validity?
A
- The extent to which test scores are associated with those of other accepted tests that measure the same ability
6
Q
What is Convergent Validity?
A
- High Positive correlation between results of the test being tested and the “gold standard”
7
Q
What is Predictive Validity?
A
- The Extent to which the test score corresponds with future behavior
8
Q
What is Descriminate Validity?
A
- The ability of a test to distinquish betweem two different constructs
9
Q
What is Reliablity?
A
- The degree of consistency or repeatability of a test
10
Q
What is Intrasubject Variability?
A
- Lack of consistency of the performance of the person being tested
11
Q
What is Interrater Reliability?
A
- The degree to which different raters agree
12
Q
What is Intrarater Reliability?
A
- The degree to which the same rater agrees with his previous measurement
13
Q
Describe the difference between max muscular strength and max muscular power
A
- Strength refers to 1 RM of an activity performed at a slow rate of speed (squat, bench press) and Power refers to 1 RM of an explosive type activity such as a snatch, vertical jump, or sprint up a staircase
14
Q
What is anaerobic capacity?
A
- Max rate of energy production by the combined phosphagen and lactic acid energy systems for moderate intensity exercises
- Usually tested my max output between 30 and 90 seconds
15
Q
What is aerobic capacity?
A
- Max rate at which an athlete can produce energy through oxidation of energy resources
