Test phase Flashcards
1
Q
Why is a process model useful for practitioners? (2)
A
- It helps them to develop a structured account of the problem and its underlying causes
- It give clues as to where interventions must be targeted in the model
2
Q
What are the 4 differente types of associations (relations) in a process model?
A
- Direct
- Indirect (mediator)
- Reinforcing (moderator)
- Undermining (moderator)
3
Q
What are the 3 rules of thumb in creating a process model?
A
- Start with the outcome variable on the right
- No more than 4 levels including outcome variable (3 to the left)
- No more than 10 variables
4
Q
What are some heuristics in developing a process model? (4)
A
- Work from right to left
- Put arrows between variables and indicate if they are positive or negative
- Check if variables are psychological, specific, concrete and continuous
- Check if variables entail behavior, attitudes or affect
5
Q
How to weight associations? (3)
A
- Is effect size based on large quantity of studies or a single/small set?
- Who is N, are they similar to the target group?
- What is the level of evidence? (e.g., opinion, case study, non-randomized control trial, randomized control trial, systematic reviews and meta-analysis)
6
Q
What determines the strength of an effect?
A
Effect size, not P-value!
