Test One Flashcards
Name four portions of the Occiput
Squamous
2 Condylar
Basilar
Where is the Sphenoid-Basilar Synchondrosis?
Between the body of the sphenoid and the basilar part of the occiput
To which bones does the Tentorium Cerebelli attach?
Occiput
Sphenoid
Temporals
Parietals
To which bones does the Falx Cerebri attach?
Ethmoid
Frontal Parietals
How is Cerebral Spinal Fluid produced?
As a filtrate from arterial blood in the choroid plexus and is distributed throughout central nervous system via ventricular system
Where is the Cerebral Spinal Fluid located?
Within the ventricular system including central canal of the spinal cord
Within subarachnoid space
Where is the straight sinus?
Junction between Falx Cerebri, Falx Cerebelli and Tentorium Cerebelli
List the Six Fundamental Principles of Cranio-Sacral Treatment
Engage Allow Follow Stillness Release Reorganisation
What steps could you take to help yourself to become more grounded during a treatment session?
Pay attention to breathing
Focus on own heart fulcrum
Focus on space above your head
Focus on feet firmly on ground
Address your own underlying trauma and tensions by your own treatments
Incorporate adequate times of quietness in your life
What bones does the Parietals articulate?
Occiput
Sphenoid
Temporals
Frontal
Where is the Coronal Suture?
Between the frontal bone and the parietal bones
Where is the Metopic Suture
In the frontal bone
What three characteristics do you look for when tuning into the Cranio-Sacral system?
Quality
Motion
Symmetry
Mobility
Where is the Jugular Foramen locates and which two boned form it?
Anteriorly Lateral to Foraman Magnum
Temporal
Occiput
What are the Clinoid Processes and what attaches to them?
Bony prominences on top of sphenoid
Tentorium
What is the most significant factor required by a practitioner in order to enable effective engagement?
Calm
Quiet
Grounded
Stillness
In what direction is the Ear Hold process carried out?
Directly outwards but laterally and slightly posteriorly
Describe the Temporal Bone Motion
The temporals are caught between front and back of head and adapt to the motion of these by a distinctive wobbly wheel motion
They rotate forward on expansion and flare out as they do so the squamous portion rotating forward and out
Give the rate of Cranio-Sacral Rhythm
4-14 cycles per minute
Give rate of mid-tide
2-2.5 cycles per minute
Give rate of long-tide
100 seconds per whole cycle
What steps could you take to help you connect to the mid-tide?
Xxx
What steps could you take to help you connect to the mid-tide?
Relax Breathe easily Let go mentally Let go in key areas - heart, head, neck, shoulders etc Let go into deeper spaciousness Settle into stillness Maintain a light touch Try not to look for things Be open to possibility of rhythm
What is meant by Reciprocal Tension Membrane System?
It is a system which tensions are reflected reciprocally throughout system
Continuously inter connected membranes which surround central nervous system and form cranial Infoldings of Falx Cerebri, Falx Cerebelli and Tentorium Cerebelli which attach to bones of sacrum and cranium
