How did the Taino people come to an end?
The Taino men were removed from their villages and used as slave labour. Some Taino people died of starvation and diseases and others from subjugation and enslavement. Genocide was also committed by the Spaniards.

He sailed under the Spanish flag as none of the other countries he asked would sponsor him for his voyage.

Describe pre-Columbian life and civilisations
The pre-Columbian civilisations were semi-nomadic, had more sophisticated cultures, had a pantheon of gods within their religion and had farming and agricultural practices.
Pre-Columbian
A term used by historians, anthropologists and archaeologists to describe the cultures in America before the arrival of Columbus.
Pantheon
Commonly referring to a group of gods from a belief system, or to the traditional customs, traditions, and stories of a population, passed down from one generation to another.
Glyph
A carved or inscribed symbol; it may be a pictogram or an ideogram, or part of a writing system.
Conquistador
An adventurer, soldier or colonist who went to the ‘new world’ to help advance the cause of Spain
Mesoamerica
The region of Central America and the location of civilisation in the region before the arrival of the Spanish (middle America)
