List and discuss four major factors that made the Vietnam War hard for the US to win
First the war was not clear cut conflict between two separate nations Second supplies for the communist forces from North Vietnam flowed not only across the north south border but also through the neighboring supposedly neutral countries of Cambodia and Laos Third The government of South Vietnam although it was non-Communist was corrupt unstable and undemocratic the only thing good about it was it was better then the communists Fourth Johnson was committed to the idea of limited defensive war he did not want to risk an out right war against North Vietnam because it could bring in the Soviet Union were Communist China and divert dollars for the great society at home
