Singing and speaking

A

Basic mechanism is the same but speech generally moves at a faster rate and singing has more extended vowels and is generally at a higher decibel level. Good speech is a foundation for good singing and passing from one to the other with apparent ease is a necessary skill for a professional.

Voiced/unvoiced consonant

A

Voiced requires vocal fold vibration. Unvoiced does not. There are nine pairs with articulators in same position but are determined by presence of vocal cold vibration.

Start softly move down to transition, loud falsetto pushed over into modal voice, start low in modal voice and jump two octaves

Bleat, straight tone wobble

A

Bleat- pulling of ab muscles must be reduced, support mechanism brought into balance. Vocal folds in continuous phonation

Straight tone- laryngeal tension, they may hold back deliberately. Alternate two half pitches slowly gradually getting faster

Wobble- lack of vocal and physical excercise
