Test 3 Flashcards
flexion and extension
180 degrees and 45 degrees in sagittal plane
abduction/adduction
180 degrees in the frontal
internal rotation/external rotation
70 degrees and 90 degrees
horizontal abduction/adduction
90 degrees and 120 degrees in transverse plane
glenoid labrum
fibrocartilage ring that attaches to the glenoid fossa, depends the articular cavity
coracoacromial arch
- formed by coracoacromial ligament and the acromion process
- functions as a roof of GH joint
- normally approximately 1 cm in depth from arch to the head
- arch forms the subacromial space contains Supraspinatus muscle and tendon, subacromial bursa, long head of biceps and part of superior capsule
axillary pouch
for head of humerus to slide down
force couple
vertical pull of deltoid would pull head up against the acromion process and therefore cause shoulder impingement without help of the RTC muscles
external rotation
head simultaneously rolls posterior and slides anteriorly on the glenoid fossa
*no scapulothoracic movement
