Test 2 last lecture ainsleys notes Flashcards
what’s different in diagnosing Psychopathy versus all of: APD, CD, ODD
APD, CD, ODD are generally defined by behaviour
psychopathy is defined by both behaviour and emotional attributes
–> this also means it should be easier to pinpoint a cause if there is one
relationship between APD and psychopathy
Psychopathy is a subclass of APD.
If APD was the flu, psychopathy is a specific kind
how does the Yerkes Dodson law apply to psychopathy
a single neuron gets an input, an produces an output in proportion.
However, neurons are different, and sometimes after a certain point of input, the output changes
abuse–> survival condition –> not as big of a response to large abuse compared to someone else
threshold is different with everyone
learning theory of psychopathy
aggression is learned after observing and doing it for yourself
- once you actually do the behaviour you change because you have actually learned it
what theory of leaning relates to the study by Lykken (1957)? What is this study about
biological theory
conditioned participants to tone with shocks
measured sweat from skin of participants
- psychopaths don’t have as much of a response after being conditioned
theory? –> you need some kind of emotional response for conditioning to work (ex: study with rats and maze and drug that dampens emotions)
