Test 2 cards from notes Flashcards
What percentage of the body is ECF and ICF? and what makes them up?
- Water weight average 60% of body mass
- 1/3 Extracellular fluid
- 2/3 Intracellular fluid
- -75% interstitial fluid
- -20% plasma
- -5% transcellular fluid (fluid that goes across the surface of cells)(pleural/peritoneal/aqueous humor/vitreous humor/endolymph)
When Amy and Paul Party Police Arrive (what ions are more abundant in the cell)
- Water
- Amino acids= more inside cell doing translation
- Phosphate= more abundant inside cell
- Potassium= higher inside cell
- Protein= more protein in cell than nucleus
- ATP
What are the differences between interstitial fluid and plasma?
- Interstitial fluid is high in sodium(Na) and chlorine(Cl)
- Plasma is high in sodium(Na), chlorine(Cl), and proteins
- blood plasma is the liquid matrix of blood and interstitial fluid lies between the circulatory system and the cells.
What is the difference between intracellular and interstitial fluid?
Intracellular fluid is fluid inside the cells whereas interstitial fluid is fluid outside and between the cells. The interstitial fluid is one of the components of your bodies extracellular fluid (ECF). The other part is your blood plasma.
What is interstitial fluid?
Extracellular fluid that surrounds the cells and lies between the cells and the plasma; lies between the circulatory system and the cells.
What is intracellular fluid?
fluid within the cells, 2/3 of the total body water volume.
CCPP
- carbohydrates, cholestrol, proteins, phospolipids
- major components of the cell membrane
What do proteins do for the cell membrane?
-helps transport non penetrateable solvent
-
How does water always move?
freely and passively through the cell membrane
