Levator Scapulae
Origin- Transverse processes of C1-C4
Insertion- Medial border of scapula from superior angle to scapular spine
Pectoralis minor
Origin- anterior surfaces of ribs 3-5
Insertion- Coracoid process of scapula
Rhomboid minor and major
Origin- C7-T5
Insertion- Medial border of the scapula below the spine
Serratus anterior
Origin- Surfaces of upper nine ribs on the side of the chest
Insertion- Anterior aspect of whole length of medial border of scapula
Subclavius
Origin-Superior aspect of first rib at its junction with its costal cartilage
Insertion- inferior groove in the mid portion of the clavicle
Trapezius
Origin- Base of skull (occipital protuberance), posterior ligaments of neck, spinous processes of C7- T12
Insertion- posterior aspect of the lateral third of clavicle, Medial border of accordion process and upper border of scapular spine, Triangular space at base of scapular spine
Coracobrachialis
Origin- Coracoid process of the scapula
Insertion- Middle of the medial border of the humeral shaft
Deltoid
Origin- Anterior lateral third of clavicle, lateral aspect of acromion, inferior edge of spine of scapula
Insertion- Deltoid tuberosity on lateral humerus
Infraspinatus
Origin-Posterior surface of scapula below spine
Insertion- Greater tubercle on posterior side
Latissimus Dorsi
Origin- Posterior crest of ilium, back of sacrum and spinous processes of lumbar and lower six thoracic vertebrae, slips from lower three ribs
Insertion- Medial lip of inter-tubercular groove of humerus
Pectoralis Major
Origin- medial half of anterior surface of clavicle, anterior surface of costal cartilages of first six ribs, adjoining portion of sternum
Insertion- flat tendon 2 or 3 inches wide to lateral lip of inter tubercular groove of humerus
Subscapularis
Origin- entire anterior surface of sub scapular fossa
Insertion- lesser tubercle of humerus
Supraspinatus
Origin-Medial two thirds of supraspinous fossa
Insertion- Superiorly on greater tubercle of humerus
Teres Major
Origin- Inferior third of lateral border of scapula
Insertion- Medial lip of the inter tubercular groove of the humerus
Teres Minor
Origin- Posterior scapula, lateral border
Insertion- Greater tubercle of humerus on posterior side
