Test #2 (1st semester) Flashcards
What is a constructive force?
Processes that help build up the earth by things like deposition or lava that forms new land.
What is a destructive force?
processes that break down the earth like volcanoes, earthquakes, or rivers.
what is weathering and erosion?
erosion is the moving of sediments from one place to another by wind, water, ice, or gravity. Weathering is the physical breaking up a rock.
what is climate feedback?
This happens when a change in our climate causes an impact which changes our climate further — a knock-on effect which feeds back into our climate

what is plate tectonics?
it is a theory of explaining earth’s crust and how it moves to create different landscapes and natural disasters.
earthquakes?
Earthquakes occur when plates move very slowly.
what is earth’s magnetic field?
is the magnetic field that extends from the Earth’s interior to where it meets the solar wind, a stream of charged particles emanating from the Sun.
mechanical and chemical effects?
The effects on this is chemicals get into water and harms the water quality.
name the steps of the water cycle?
Transpiration (sucks up the water), Condensation (goes to the clouds), Precipitation (rain), surface run off, accumulation (goes into rivers), Evaporation, condensation (clouds form. This recycles again.
describe the carbon cycle?

describe how the energy budget works
100 % is all of the suns energy, 51% of energy is absorbed by earth, 4% is reflected. 16% percent to the trees is absorbed, 6 percent is reflected. 3 percent to the clouds is absorbed and and 20 % is bounced off.
