BALANCE: IF the vestibular apparatus is compromised, balance is impaired. ROMBERG test (stand with eyes closed) and testing gait
What is nystagmus? When is it often seen?
rapid, involuntary eye movement. In patients with an impaired vestibular function (CN VIII) (could also be nauseous)

stimulate gag reflex (however many healthy people have a diminished gag reflex, so not the most accurate) –> tongue will elevate (CN X) when stimulation is detected (IX)

listen to patients voice (hoarse = damage)

turning head with resistance, shrugging shoulders
