Historical Criticism
investigates the origins of ancient text in order to understand “the world behind the text”
Form Criticism
deals with oral criticism (psalms)
Canon
books of the old testament (pentateuch, historical books, the wisdom writings, prophets)
Redaction
examines the way the various pieces of the tradition have been assembled into the final literary composition by an author or editor
Kenosis
the ‘self-emptying’ of one’s own will and becoming entirely receptive to God’s divine will
Yahweh
means “I am who I am”
