What are the two types of fonts?
Sarif and Sans-Sarif (Sarifs are small lines added to a character)
When are sarif fonts used?
When there are large amounts of text, eg: book, this font makes the words easier to read
When are sans sarif fonts used?
For large text, boldness, eg: magazine headline or posters
What is RGB?
Red, Green, Blue
Additive Colours - all combine to create white light
What is CMYK?
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow,
Subtractive Colours - absorbs colour and looks black
When are RGB and CYMK used?
RGB is used for viewing on a screen (internet, computer screen)
CMYK is used for print work.
What is the difference between bitmap and vector?
Bitmap:
Pixel based
Don’t scale well
Photo realistic
Vector:
Math based
Scale Well
Precise Illustrations
What are the three properties of a pixel?
Size (Resolution)
Colour
Location
What are the four properties for good design?
Contrast (colour or size)
Repetition (colour, texture, size, etc that is repeated)
Alignment (left, center , right alignment)
Proximity (how close things are to each other, business card)
What is kerning?
The spacing or reduced spacing between characters
