• Initial repose 1-3 weeks (21 days)
• Lower incidence of anticholinergic SE
• CAUTION WITH ELDERLY (falls, stroke, seizures)
• Black box warning for children, teens
• **Serotonin Syndrome (SES)- increase fever, increase BP, shock/death (when given with MAOI or too much SSRI)
• Fluoxetine d/c for 5 weeks before MAOI given; vise versa 2 weeks

• **Hypertensive crisis- increase b/p, c/p, stroke (occipital headaches), coma, death (interaction with food/drug)
• Monitor BP 2xdaily (notify MD in up)
No St. John’s wart acts as an antidepressant=counteractive
