What are linking verbs?
Verbs that connect a subject with a subject complement.
What is a transitive verb?
A verb that needs a direct object for a complete meaning.
What is a subject complement?
It follows a linking verb and has information on the subject.
What does a direct object do?
Answers “what” or “who” in a sentence.
What is an independent clause?
Complete sentences or thoughts.
What’s a dependent clause?
A clause requiring an independent clause to be complete.
What are the two types of conjunctions?
Coordinating conjunctions (FANBOYS) and subordinating conjunctions (As, because, although, since, before, et cetera.)
Come up with a simple sentence example.
E.g. I love my dog.
What is a simple sentence’s equation?
One independent clause.
What is the equation of a compound sentence?
Two independent clauses joined by a coord. conj.
Give a compound sentence eg.
e.g. I love cats, but sometimes they are mean.

One independent clause and one or more dependent clauses with subordinating conjunctions.
