Test 1 Flashcards
1
Q
Dalton’s Atomic Model
A
- Each element made of tiny particles called atoms
- Atoms of an element are identical
- Chemical compounds are formed when atoms of different elements combine
- Chemical reactions involve reorganization of atoms and changes in bonds
2
Q
Mass Spectrometry and Dalton’s Model
A
Mass spectrometry showed that Dalton’s Model was flawed, as results showed that atoms of an element did not have to be identical and could have different weights (isotopes)
3
Q
Coulomb’s Law
A
F = (q1*q2)/(r^2) q1 = Charge of first object q2 = Charge of second object r = distance between objects (r is squared in equation might be hard to see)
