Test 1 Flashcards

1
Q

Dalton’s Atomic Model

A
  1. Each element made of tiny particles called atoms
  2. Atoms of an element are identical
  3. Chemical compounds are formed when atoms of different elements combine
  4. Chemical reactions involve reorganization of atoms and changes in bonds

Q

Mass Spectrometry and Dalton’s Model

A

Mass spectrometry showed that Dalton’s Model was flawed, as results showed that atoms of an element did not have to be identical and could have different weights (isotopes)

Q

Coulomb’s Law

A
F = (q1*q2)/(r^2)
q1 = Charge of first object
q2 = Charge of second object
r = distance between objects (r is squared in equation might be hard to see)
